I have to admit, I’m a little behind with my blogging. Between shooting, editing, painting my studio and just being a mom in general, my blog has sadly taken a back seat. It’s been well over a month since I photographed baby Nelle (how cute is that name by the way?) but I still wanted to share her story and her beautiful images. I spent several hours with Nelle trying to get her to dose off to sleep so we could get some sleepy, naked poses for mom and dad. However, she was wide awake and wanted to show off those bright blue eyes...so we just went with it.
Despite the numerous feedings, diaper changes and rocking, she probably only slept a total of ten minutes, but that's the way it goes sometimes. It just goes to show you that every shoot is different, and although posing naked wasn’t in the cards for baby Nelle, the outcome was still great nonetheless. Plus, it always helps when you have a mom and dad who are as patient and easy-going as Nelle’s. Her parents met in college at BC so they wanted to work their alma mater into the shoot. How adorable is this?
So, the lesson here is that as moms (and as photographers), we want nothing more than to take stunning photos of our newborn babies. We may come into a shoot with certain expectations or an idea of what we want in our heads, but it’s important to remember that the baby is going to do what it wants to do, and that is totally ok. Nobody wins when you try and force something that just isn't mean't to be. As long as you remain flexible and patient, you’re bound to get beautiful, timeless images.
